HPHC Steps in to Offer Support in Response to Closure of New Hampshire Interlocal Trust (NHIT)
Canton, MA (April 24, 2025) – Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, a Point32Health company, has announced it is collaborating with SchoolCare, effective July 1, to ensure continuity of health coverage for affected public entities in New Hampshire following the unexpected announcement of the dissolution of the New Hampshire Interlocal Trust (NHIT).
The closure has left many New Hampshire municipalities, school districts, and other political subdivisions urgently seeking replacement health coverage. This new collaboration with SchoolCare will help meet the evolving needs of these groups by offering continuity in provider access and continued support they have come to expect through risk pool membership.
“We are pleased to partner with SchoolCare to offer continued access to health care coverage for New Hampshire municipalities in need due to the sudden closure of NHIT,” said Kate Skouteris, vice president, regional commercial markets at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. “We’re committed to providing support to residents of our state’s communities and stability for their health and well-being.”
Since 1996, SchoolCare has served as a trusted, non-profit provider of comprehensive employee benefits to public entities throughout the state.
“This partnership is rooted in our mission to support New Hampshire’s public entities through dependable coverage, transparent pricing, and high-touch service,” said Lisa Duquette, executive director of SchoolCare. “We’re pleased to offer a path forward for NHIT members that preserves both provider continuity and the many administrative advantages of a risk pool.”
