Breast pump coverage
Harvard Pilgrim covers one manual or electric breast pump per pregnancy for members when:
- You have a prescription from your provider, and
- With your prescription, you receive the pump from a durable medical equipment (DME) supplier in your plan’s network
We cover one hospital-grade electric pump rental in place of a manual or electric pump with an order from your provider.
Please make sure the DME supplier you plan to buy your breast pump from participates in your plan’s provider network:
- Log in to your secure member account
- Select “Find a provider”
- Select “Search by Name or Facility”
- Enter the supplier’s name in the search field
- Select “Search Providers”
In-network DME suppliers will submit a claim to Harvard Pilgrim on your behalf.
Lactation consultant coverage
As a Harvard Pilgrim member, we cover you 100% for lactation support from certified consultants.
If you don’t know where to start, ask your obstetrician, midwife or your child’s pediatrician for a recommendation. You can find certified consultants who:
- Work for hospitals or birthing centers and are available to you before and after you go home
- Work in the community and offer in-home classes, group classes or both
Find a lactation consultant near you:
If you work with a lactation consultant at the hospital or birthing center, they’ll bill us directly and you won’t need to pay out of pocket for their services. Otherwise, please ask your lactation consultant for an invoice and submit it with a completed health care reimbursement form.
Routine pediatric care
Routine pediatric health screenings and preventive immunizations are covered in full (no cost sharing). Find more information on preventive care.
