Eric H. Schultz, President and CEO of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, released the following statement in response to the Trump Administration’s decision to end health insurance subsidies for lower income individuals:
“We have long been committed to increasing access to high quality, high value health coverage to all of our citizens, regardless of their health or economic status. The decision to end subsidies for low income individuals who purchase their coverage through the exchanges will make coverage unaffordable for many individuals in the communities we serve. It will also further disrupt the health insurance market, leading to uncertainty and increasing costs, while keeping health coverage from those who need it most. We call upon our representatives in Congress to act now to bring fairness and stability to the market.”
