For commercial, Medicare Enhance and Medicare Supplement:

As of Nov. 1, 2023, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care manages behavioral health services in-house for our commercial, Medicare Enhance and Medicare Supplement products. For these members, please coordiante services through Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and submit claims directly to Harvard Pilgrim. Please refer to our Behavioral Health webpage and the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care BH Quick Reference Guide for more information.

For Stride^SM  (HMO)/(HMO-POS) Medicare Advantage members only:

Behavioral health services are managed through an arrangement with United Behavioral Health, Inc. d/b/a Optum. Under this agreement, UBH is responsible for utilization management (authorization and referrals) of behavioral health benefits, behavioral health provider network development and management, and administration of behavioral health care benefits.

For assistance, please contact Harvard Pilgrim’s Behavioral Health Access Center at 888-777-4742 or access Optum’s Provider Express website for clinical and administrative resources, including the Prior Authorization of Service and the Contact Us (for  provider assistance) sections. Members and providers may also access Optum’s Live and Work Well website for more information on behavioral health benefits.
