Harvard Pilgrim members who have prescription drug coverage are able to purchase a 90-day supply of maintenance medications at retail pharmacies that participate in the OptumRx Retail90 network.
What are maintenance medications?
Generally, these are medications that are taken continually for long-term treatment of chronic conditions. Examples include:
- Antidepressants
- Asthma/COPD medications
- Cholesterol-lowering drugs
- Diabetes medications
- Estrogen therapies
- Heart medications
- High blood pressure medications
- Oral contraceptives
- Seizure medications
- Thyroid medications
Members will pay three times their applicable cost-sharing amount for a 90-day supply of maintenance medications at participating Retail90 locations.

How the program works
The physician prescribes the medications for shipment directly to the patient’s home. Upon receiving the completed prescription information, the pharmacy contacts the member to arrange for copayment and delivery. The specialty pharmacy coordinates with the member to schedule refills.
Reimbursement
This is a mandatory program. If your patient chooses to obtain their Infertility medications at a pharmacy other than Village Pharmacy or Freedom Drug, they will be responsible for the full cost of the drug
