On behalf of our non-English speaking and reading members, Harvard Pilgrim offers a variety of services available for both members and employers:
Audio Orientation in 10 Languages
New members can listen and learn general information about the Harvard Pilgrim HMO in 10 languages by simply calling a toll-free number (1-888-715-4470). Topics include: how to choose a primary care physician; seeing a specialist; receiving mental health services; accessing emergency, weekend and evening care; copayments; out-of-area care; prescription drug benefits, and how to resolve billing questions.
The 10 languages are English, Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Portuguese, Khmer, Haitian, Vietnamese, Russian and Italian.
Member Services — Supporting more than 100 Languages
Harvard Pilgrim's Member Services department currently has representatives who speak Spanish, French, Polish and Mandarin. In addition, Member Services utilizes a special language line that makes available interpreters in more than 100 languages — enabling Harvard Pilgrim representatives to better serve members who do not speak English. To access one of these interpreters, members can call Harvard Pilgrim's Member Services Department at 1-888-333-4742 (HPHC).
Hearing impaired members can communicate directly with Harvard Pilgrim's Member Services Department by using a Telecommunication Device for the Deaf (TDD). Members who own or have access to a TDD may call 1-800-637-8257 for assistance.
Diversity Collaboration with Employers
In order to enhance business relationships and promote diversity, the Harvard Pilgrim Foundation's Institute for Linguistic and Cultural Skills does this by providing strategic diversity consulting, training and technical support through its Value Added Diversity Services. These services include Strategic Planning and Goal Setting, Measuring Organizational Climate, Benchmark Employee Diversity Survey, Diversity Awareness Workshops and Diversity Facilitator Skills/Cultural Competency Training.

Interpreters at Your Worksite
Interpreters also are available to come to your workplace during health fairs and general information meetings. These interpreters can assist in helping to explain Harvard Pilgrim's benefits to a diverse group of employees. Interpreters for many languages are available. Talk to your Harvard Pilgrim Account Executive if you'd like an interpreter available during your next open enrollment.
