Harvard Pilgrim would like to congratulate the 55 hospitals named to our ninth annual Hospital Honor Roll and the 59 physician groups recognized in our 14th annual Physician Group Honor Roll. The annual Honor Roll recognizes best practices in performance and care management across our provider network.
The Hospital Honor Roll recognizes adult acute care hospitals that performed among the top 25% of those measured nationally on a set of composite quality and patient experience measures, as reported by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on Hospital Compare, and Leapfrog patient safety measures. Hospitals were evaluated on processes of care in four categories (cardiac; pneumonia; surgery — preventing infections; and surgery — preventing complications) and patient safety measures.
The Physician Group Honor Roll highlights adult and pediatric physician groups that have achieved exceptional results in their approach to disease prevention and the treatment of acute and chronic illness. Harvard Pilgrim selected the Honor Roll physician groups based on clinical performance measured against national HEDIS quality benchmarks as reported by NCQA, and performance in three domains of clinical care: acute, chronic, and preventive care. Seventeen practices making the Physician Group Honor Roll achieved “With Distinction” status, meaning they have exceeded the national 90th percentile on all measures used in the evaluation.
Honor Roll hospitals and physician groups are noted in Harvard Pilgrim’s Provider Directory, as well as in the Now iKnow cost and quality transparency tool, enabling members to evaluate and select providers based on quality and safety performance.
