In preparation for the upcoming move from ICD-9 to ICD-10 code sets, Harvard Pilgrim has developed an FAQ to answer questions that providers may have as the compliance date draws near, including topics such as the submission of claims; notifications, referrals, and authorizations; provider self-testing options; and key resources for additional information.
As indicated in an article from the May issue of Network Matters, Harvard Pilgrim will be ready to implement ICD-10 diagnosis and procedure codes by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS)-mandated compliance date of October 1, 2015. We are updating our medical and payment policies to include ICD-10 coding, and will continue posting updated policies throughout the summer.
Reminder of self-testing options
In order to gauge operational readiness for ICD-10 and identify any necessary areas of improvement, providers may choose to conduct ICD-10 self-testing. Two forms are offered — ICD-10 validation self-testing and end-to-end self-testing — which are referenced in greater detail in the May article.
For further questions regarding the transition to ICD-10, contact the Harvard Pilgrim EDI team by email at EDI_Team@harvardpilgrim.org or call 800-708-4414 (select option 1, then press 3).
