As we announced in a previous issue of Network Matters, on January 1, 2014, Harvard Pilgrim began partnering with UnitedHealthcare’s national network of dentists — Dental Benefit Providers, Inc. — to offer a pediatric dental plan to small employer groups (with 50 or fewer employees) in Massachusetts, Maine, and New Hampshire.
Benefits are comprehensive and include cleanings, fillings, major and minor restorative work, and medically necessary orthodontics (including those related to cleft lip and/or palate). It’s important to note that all claims for this product should be submitted directly to Dental Benefit Providers at:
Dental Benefit Providers, Inc.
P.O. Box 30567
Salt Lake City, UT 84130-0567
Network providers can also register and check member eligibility at www.dbp.com. This information is also noted on the back of the member’s Pediatric Dental ID card. Because not all Harvard Pilgrim members have this dental coverage, we issued separate pediatric dental ID cards to members with this coverage to aid your office staff in determining whether a member under age 19 is covered under this benefit. Prior to providing services, please check with the member to see if they have the card (see below).
If you have questions about eligibility or claims, please call 800-822-5353. For more information, including a summary of covered services, please see the Pediatric Dental plan page in the Provider Manual.
