October 2013

Medicare Advantage StrideSM (HMO) Plans Offered in January

Beginning January 1, 2014, Harvard Pilgrim will offer new Medicare Advantage plans — Harvard Pilgrim StrideSM (HMO) and StrideSM of New Hampshire (HMO)— to Medicare beneficiaries in nine counties within Massachusetts (Bristol, Norfolk, Suffolk, and Worcester), Maine (Cumberland and York), and New Hampshire (Hillsborough, Rockingham, and Merrimack).

Open enrollment began on October 15. To participate in our Medicare Advantage Stride (HMO) plans, members must live in the plan’s service area, be entitled to Medicare Part A, and be enrolled in Medicare Part B. Through Harvard Pilgrim’s network of providers, Stride (HMO) and Stride of New Hampshire (HMO) members will receive medical and prescription drug (Part D) coverage.

Our Medicare Advantage Stride (HMO) website includes information about the Stride (HMO) plans as well as helpful tools and resources, including the Medicare Advantage Provider Manual and a quick reference guide for providers. You’ll also find information about (and a direct link to) our new Medicare Advantage Provider Portal, which supports a variety of online transactions, such as verifying patient eligibility, making referrals, submitting and tracking claims, requesting authorizations, and checking member eligibility and copayment amounts. Providers who are participating in Stride (HMO) and Stride of New Hampshire  (HMO) can register on the Medicare Advantage Provider Portal beginning in November.

Please keep in mind that the Medicare Advantage Provider Portal is a tool for our Stride (HMO) plans only. For all other Harvard Pilgrim products, including our Medicare Enhance and Medicare Supplement senior plans, please continue to use existing e-business tools, such as HPHConnect and NEHEN.

Harvard Pilgrim’s provider relations representatives will be available to meet with you and your staff to share information about Stride (HMO) and Stride of New Hampshire (HMO). You may contact your provider relations representative at any time to schedule a training session.

If you have any other questions about these plans, please contact the Medicare Advantage Provider Service Center at 888-609-0692.
