Harvard Pilgrim is the #1 private health plan1 in America again, according to an annual ranking of the nation’s best health plans by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).2 Harvard Pilgrim is the only private health plan in the nation to be named #1 for member satisfaction and quality of care for 10 consecutive years, and has held the top spot since NCQA began ranking health plans.3
“We could not have achieved being in the top seat for a full decade without strong partnerships with our doctors, hospitals, employers, brokers and, of course, our employees,” said Eric H. Schultz, president and chief executive officer of Harvard Pilgrim. “We are committed to remaining focused on bringing all of the communities we serve the best care, quality, and value possible.”
The NCQA rated nearly 500 private health plans this year. The rankings are based on clinical quality as measured by The Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS)®, a tool developed by NCQA to enable purchasers and consumers to make reliable comparisons of health care plan performance.
"We are very proud of this unprecedented accomplishment,” said Michael Sherman, MD, chief medical director of Harvard Pilgrim. “We attribute these results to our ability to innovate in ways that reward high value and improved health outcomes. By partnering closely with providers, we believe that we can continue to make a difference and ensure that our members receive the highest quality of care."
