First Seniority Freedom update
January 2007

Membership for First Seniority Freedom, Harvard Pilgrim's innovative new Medicare Advantage Private-Fee-For-Service plan, went into effect on January 1, 2007. Office staffs at many clinicians' offices have already begun seeing members from any of our several First Seniority Freedom plan options.

Some First Seniority Freedom members may not have received their ID cards in time for the January 1 effective date of their enrollment. To address this issue, Harvard Pilgrim has established expedited enrollment processes and ID card alternatives to support enrollment and eligibility verification for First Seniority Freedom members.

Office staff may check member eligibility by calling Harvard Pilgrim's Provider Service Center at 800-708-4414, Option 2. Additionally, members will receive an acknowledgment letter within 14 business days of receipt of their application, which confirms their plan design, and includes their new member number. This letter may be used as proof of their enrollment. Members may also use the pink copy of their enrollment form as proof of enrollment if they have not yet received either an acknowledgment letter, or member ID card. If an expedited enrollment process needs to be invoked, office staff should refer members to Harvard Pilgrim's First Seniority Freedom Member Services Center, at 800-421-3550.
