For prompt payment, Harvard Pilgrim providers should submit claims for Access America members directly to Harvard Pilgrim—just as they do for our other products. If Harvard Pilgrim providers submit claims for Access America members to UnitedHealthcare, these claims will be denied and must be resubmitted to Harvard Pilgrim for payment.
Launched in January, 2013, through a partnership with UnitedHealthcare, Access America enables multi-state employers based in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine to offer their workers in locations across the country the same Harvard Pilgrim insurance products offered to employees in their home offices.
Access America members can receive care through Harvard Pilgrim’s comprehensive network in Massachusetts, Maine, and New Hampshire and UnitedHealthcare’s national network of 650,000 doctors and allied health professionals and 5,500 hospitals in other states.
You can recognize members by their ID cards, which display the Access America name in the top right corner, along with the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and UnitedHealthcare logos across the top, as shown in the example below. Billing information may also be found on the back of the card.
