Glucose Meter Program

Abbott Diabetes Care (ADC) meters and test strips are Harvard Pilgrim’s preferred diabetic testing supplies. Harvard Pilgrim members are able to obtain Abbott meters at any network pharmacy, by calling (866) 224-8892, or by visiting www.myfreestyle.com/meterprogram.

Who can get a glucose meter?
Members 18 years and older can obtain one meter per year. Members under 18 years can obtain two meters per year.

Is there a cost to members?
There is no cost or copayment for Abbott brand meters. Member's who choose to use alternative brand meters will be charged full price for the meter.

Where can members obtain a glucose meter?
Harvard Pilgrim members are able to obtain Abbott meters at any network pharmacy, or by calling (866) 224-8892, or by visiting www.myfreestyle.com/meterprogram.

Does a member need a prescription?
Yes, a member needs a written prescription for an Abbott brand meter from their doctor.

Which glucose meters are included?
All Abbott brand meters are covered for Harvard Pilgrim Members. These include:

  • FreeStyle Freedom Lite® meters
  • FreeStyle Lite® meters
  • Precision Xtra® meters
