Harvard Pilgrim colleagues contributed their time and talents to the following organizations:

Tatnuck Magnet School
Worcester, MA

More than 30 volunteers from Harvard Pilgrim Health Care joined together to create a beautiful outdoor learning space at the Tatnuck Magnet School in Worcester. Joining the volunteers was “Finz,” the Worcester Sharks’ mascot, who led the students in physical training exercises. [watch video]


Hennigan School
Jamaica Plain, MA

More than 150 volunteers from Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and its Foundation, the Boston Celtics and City Year, joined forces to transform the outdoor learning and recreational space of the Hennigan Elementary School in Jamaica Plain, just in time for the new school year. Joining the volunteers were Boston Celtics Forward, Jared Sullinger, and “Lucky” the Leprechaun, who hosted basketball clinics for the students.


Maine Longfellow Elementary and Deering High School, Portland, ME

More than 100 volunteers from Harvard Pilgrim Health Care of New England and MaineHealth joined together for a day of service to help improve the health of the Greater Portland community. Volunteers were active at three different locations in the city: building an outdoor learning landscape on the playground at Longfellow Elementary School, painting murals at Deering High School, cleaning up the trails at Portland Trails, and building gardens with Cultivating Community. Members of the Maine Red Claws and mascot Crusher hosted Healthy Living Clinics with the students at Longfellow Elementary.

NH Beech Street School
Manchester, NH

Harvard Pilgrim Health Care of New England employees joined members of City Year New Hampshire and employees of Centrix Bank, Manchester Monarchs, and Manchester Health Department for a day of service at the Beech Street Elementary School during its sixth annual Employee Service Day. More than 75 volunteers participated, helping to build flower boxes and picnic tables; painting the U.S. map on the blacktop and other educational wall murals; and building cubbies and book shelves for the school’s library and classrooms. Hartford Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School, Hartford, CT

Harvard Pilgrim Health Care of New England employees joined members of Hands on Hartford for an Employee Service Day at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School in Hartford. More than 30 volunteers participated, helping to build a community garden, painting educational murals, and creating resources that promote fitness and nutrition. [read more] [watch video]


Martin Luther King Service Event 5th Annual MLK Brunch and Service Event, Crown Colony, Quincy, MA

Harvard Pilgrim and the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation celebrated the life, legacy and service of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with its 5th annual MLK Brunch and Service Event. Highlighting the importance of community service and the theme of "Building Community through Conversation,” the event was attended by close to 150 employees, their families, community members, and award recipients. 1-9-15

Camp Sunshine Camp Sunshine
Casco, ME

Hundreds of children with life-threatening illnesses and their families will continue to enjoy this lake-side retreat thanks to support from the Foundation and Harvard Pilgrim employees: $10,000 from the $30K for 30 Years Anniversary Celebration, contributions from the Employee Fund Raising Campaign, and donations of time from Harvard Pilgrim employees who landscaped and beautified the camp.

Quincy, MA

With backpacks and school supplies donated and packed by Harvard Pilgrim employees, 1,500 elementary school students in Quincy and Boston were off to a good start to the school year.
